Summer 2019 Open Barn

We’ll be holding an “Open Barn” from 10am to 4pm each day.

Public is invited. Seminars for those looking to learn more about alpacas. Come…..hang out, enjoy. Event is Free.

Meet our new spring crias and learn more about these South American natives. Alpacas are inquisitive, intelligent and healthy enabling them to produce a natural luxury fiber year after year.

Interested in learning about alpacas? Plan on sitting in on our Alpaca 101 class held each day at about 1:00 pm.

An “Open Barn” is just like an “Open House” except it is held in the barn. Entertainment is provided by the alpacas. Hosts will answer questions and assist with animal interactions if needed. No RSVP is needed. It is Free. Some areas are relatively accessible to wheelchairs.

Spinning and weaving demonstrations will be ongoing throughout the weekend. Feel the luxurious softness of the elite “Royal Grade” quality alpaca and learn about the new markets emerging from this exciting development.

Everybody has to start somewhere.

Many hands on fiber activities; Carding, Spinning and Weaving demonstrations will be ongoing both days.

Dyeing to Dye

This is  beginner to intermediate class on natural fiber dyeing. There will be instruction on dye types along with different  techniques to obtain unique results.

Class fee includes sample yarns and roving. Additional fiber is available if you have a special project in mind. Some participants have found bringing a sample fabric or photo helps with achieving a specific color or pattern.

We guarantee that you will go home with new fiber arts skills and friends.  This class has limited enrollment and this is the only dye class we have scheduled so far in 2019.  It usually sells out so don’t delay in registering. Cost is $50.00 per person and includes food, beverages and supplies needed. If you have a special project in mind additional  raw fiber and yarns or roving are available to purchase . 

Crias and coffee starts at 9 am if you’d like to spend some time with the alpacas….Class will begin at 10 am and instruction will be completed by 4pm.

All materials are provided.  Please wear old clothes as you will be trying out various techniques and leaving with yarn ready for your next project!  No experience necessary, 12 and older please.
